Hello

Do any of you use this bad boy?

Im looking into it. I went to a workshop at New Adventures conference with Ben Bodien.

He was talking about SaSS and Less frameworks.

Workshops | New Adventures In Web Design 2012

Was really good.

Just want to know if anybody els is using it and what you think about it?

Vince

For personal projects I use Compass.

My opinion on both of the frameworks is, as I've said before, they are productivity tools for people who already know CSS well, I would never recommend anyone who isn't completely confident in their CSS skills to use them.

None of them actually increase the quality of your code, in fact it most definitely decreases it, but working in Compass is about 50% faster and time is more important than small redundancies in code often.

I don't like relying on javascript to do my css, otherwise I like a lot of what it offers - can see how it would save me time

Yes the javascript methods are not a good idea.

I compile from compass.

No it just runs locally, and spits out normal CSS.

Compass uses the SASS framework so its not really javascript based but more ruby based but same process.

The thing I like about it is the fact you can indent your css. I really like it.

I have gone for less but thats just cause I know nothing about ruby.

Read about it but seems like there's too much redundancy for my liking.

I'm 'a bit' crazy about how clean I want my code, and frameworks rarely provide that.

Yeah there is a heck of a lot of features I wouldn't use. But still its one of the most complete and nicely done frameworks I've seen.

I think with things like Bootstrap its good to know what they can do and cant and then dependent on clients needs you can choose to use it or not.

I mean not every framework will be perfect for every website so the more you know about the diffrent ones out there the better allround developer you will become.

I like Less and SASS but that is because its your code and I like to kind of know that I typed each html and css tag or selector. Plus its cleaner.

I'm looking at these options. Just don't feel too confident with installing them and the .js option client side seems like it'd be a little bit hungry.

With LESS you can save a lot of time. It needs a bit of a planning before writing any styles with it because you can easily spend more time writing LESS than normal css
