Client editing XHTML/CSS site
Hi Guys, I recently created a site for a client using XHTML and CSS not a table in sight. The pages are XHTML 1.0 Transitional and validate without errors. The issue I have is that the client now wants to update elements of the pages (copy and some photos) but doesn't want me to do it. They want to be able to update the site themselves whenever they require. I don't have a problem with this but am very concerned about the pages being littered with bad code and generally undoing my work (not to mention the impact it has when you try to use it as a portfolio piece for standards/valid code). They are familiar with Dreamweaver (not 100% sure what version but could get them to upgrade to the latest version if required) - So does the latest version of Dreamweaver support CSS layouts correctly and will it work as an editor for this situation. They will require some sort of WYSIWYG editor and my understanding is that Dreamweaver supports CSS much better now (never actually used it) Or, is the new Contribute a possible solution? Again I believe it has the same CSS rendering and support taken from Dreamweaver MX 2004. Any pointers would be great - thanks feel the heat.

your best bet is www.wysiwygpro.com it's an xhtml editor and has a clean up word function too. It even has some of our code in the latest release |

Testing Dreamweaver MX at the moment and although it is a vast improvment on the last version the design view still has trouble with some css, one of the big problems I came across was it's display of floats and background images. |

It has to be integrated into a cms, but you can make a really simple one - it basically just replaces a form field.. |

Currently started learning PHP so not at a stage where I can make a simple CMS just yet. Hence the off the shelf solution. Certainly intent to do so once I am knowledgeable enough but for know need a faster solution. feel the heat.

your best bet would be the macromedia contribute route then I reckon - you should be able to download a demo to have a play around with from macromedia here: http://www.macromedia.com/software/c...uct_resources/ |
