Even if they did, IE7 doesn't work on Win2k and below. There's still a HUGE number of people out there using Win2k, ME, 98 and 98SE so, if a non-negligible proportion of your target audience is still using any of these operating systems, IE6 will fuck you long time. A sizable proportion of the traffic we get to my company' Website comes from school, college and hospital networks. All institutions that are not renowned for embracing the latest technology and where updates to existing systems are often several years behind. The hospital I work in only updated to XP last year and they are thought to be quite forward thinking compared to other similar organizations. They have not yet upgraded to IE7. With more than 600,000 daily visitor sessions I know that I'm going to be stuck with IE6 for a long long time to come. If Microsoft is unable or unwilling to offer more modern browsing solutions to these operating systems, either because of the technology involved or because they are no longer profiting from them, the decent thing to do would be to officially cease support and to recommend FireFox to these users. Of course this is never going to happen so I don't see how we can stop supporting IE6 for some years to come. |

It's pretty funny because somehow while being "compliant," I guess, the IE team still managed to fudge up this beta so far. I've a complaint website all ready to go and it renders the same on everything except IE5 for Mac <-- couldn't care less about that. But, when I went to test it on IE8... blank white screen! :-) |

People need to move on. Microsoft no longer support 95 / 98 or broswers below IE6 so why should we! W2K is near the end of its lifecycle and XP has 4 years left. Quote:
Interesting how did you get it working on IE8? |
