xml, xslt, xpath, etc
I've been seeing more and more job adds that want XML/XSLT expertise. I'm familiar with XML and its use. As I understand it, XSLT is similar to CSS (only with operational logic) for translating XML documents. Can anyone recommend a good resource for XML/XSLT/XPath/XSL-FO and so on? All that I'm aware of is W3Schools. |

not sure if it counts as a resource but i like toying around with symphony. its touted as a 'developers cms' and based on xslt. might learn something while playing around with it. its simple (well if you know xslt) and slick as well. |

ah, xslt, the pain you used to cause me good stuff: ZVON.org - ZVON (tutorials) Mulberry Technologies, Inc.: XSL-List -- Open Forum on XSL (good archive) XSLT list Basics (especially helpful for tricky stuff) Jeni's XSLT Pages (girl is a fucking genius) meh.

it's a great way for web developers/designers to become UI designers for .Net applications. i had to create a UI in XSLT/XPATH that would be applied to raw XML data for use in a .Net application that was being written by a software developer. It was actually a very smooth collaboration (in that little collaboration was required). there are lots of resources out the, and some good firefox extensions that will take the headache out of trying to determine the XPATH of a given XML element. |
