Tables and more tables

I keep finding good looking websites then i view the code of the site, and they always use tables. It seems like everyone is using tables. Im designing a few websites just using css, it seems much easier to slice a site in photoshop and inport it into tables in dreamweaver, be a lot quicker. Is there people out there that dont use tables?

oh dear ...
tables are bad.

stop looking at bad websites.

use them for data - but not for presentation.

just cos others use bad practice doesn't mean that you should follow them down that road .... but by all means .... whatever ...

Weldo is right...tables are nasty. Avoid them. Yes, its a bit quicker initially do design a website using a table based layout, but the amount of time you will save in teh long run using proper xhtml and css will more than make up for it.

Looks aren't everything

i've seen some of those sites also, i think either their not spending the time moving to css because it works now and it's not a priority, or their just scared

I call it "laziness". Layout tables have been out of style for at least 3 or 4 years.

I like this website and the websites these guys do at pop creative but all the stuff they do is in tables, and they are getting paid loads to do them!

you seem to be missing the point here.

to use tables as a layout tool is no longer a good use for them, now that css support is widespread.

use them if you want - but ultimately look at job vacancies for web designers - html and css are top priorities - as they allow you to build sites that degrade well and can be used on handheld devices etc. without the problems that tables can cause.

how you make it look is entirely another thing.

there's nothing on that link you posted that can't be done using css - and its a better approach in the short/mid and long run.

go and build nested table layouts if you like. use spacer gifs and marquee tags. fuck it - use a blink tag if you like ...

indeed weldo, absolutely no reason to use tables on thier otherwise pretty nice site, except for coders' lazyness/ignorance.

Non tables sites are far better for accessibility.
