Devising a way to guide people somewhere in a more intersting way then simply giving textual directions, on a site in dev. Does Google charge for the right to have a maps.google.com data driven map on a site, while maintaining the site's design theme? just as AdSense lets you maintain site colors in the ad's text. My ideal thought is to have a full browser flash pop that covers 100% of the viewable area, also being transparent so it can darken the browser around a centered rectangle containg a vector map of the respective business's city, with the biz's location being highlighted. The flash should have zoom and pan capabilities. Now I highly doubt the client is going to want to pay that, so I'm trying to explore other non-flash avenues, but am coming up with nothing intersting. Anyone with much experience in this? |

If you're not up to implementing Google maps yourself http://www.mapbuilder.net/ is a good start. Although it could be implemented better, you can see an example at the bottom of this page: http://www.pendragonstages.co.uk/spectator2.html The map will resize to any proportions/size you give to the containing element. |
