Cross Browser Compatibilty - W3C Standards

Hi all.
I have been working for a site for six months now, and designed it from scratch (frontend).
All this time, it has not been compatible with Firefoox, and I have now been given the task of making the site cross-browser compatible - it has been put on the back burner until now.
So, I have a question, which will hopefully make my life easier:
If I use the W3C CSS and HTML validation service and check and repair all errors, then will this guarantee my site to be cross-browser compatible ?

D

no... valid css has nothing to do with how the different browsers display things. You should be testing in different browsers to iron out any differences along the way and writing seperate css/hacks for the ones thats causing problems.

If you're using valid code, you'll be in pretty good shape.

However, there's always old ironsides - Internet Explorer - to worry about. Microsoft doesn't like open standards. Bastards.

Writing valid code is a good place to start, but you'll need to browser check as you go.

valid code will (should) also protect you against future browser releases.
