what's the website for? If you just want a general personal site, I'd use www.blogger.com - you do it all online.

It doesnt really matter what program you use, you can use notepad. Its more about learning the correct html code and how to build a site.

Photoshop + Dreamweaver, but I think everyone must specialize in design or coding, not both

everybody can try developing design, html code, programming, flash etc
but if I specialize in design only, I make it better

Any Graphic/Picture Editing software + HTML Editor. Preferrable Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Dreamweaver maybe? I remember I used different editors or notepad + Photoshop when I "started" ... but that depends on what you want to do, and ofcourse loads of new stuff have happend since then - but you have to start somewhere;

Start with the two basic cornerstones
- Graphics: Your homepage face (logo, buttons or whatever you want)
- HTML: And what put the face togheter, and make it work. The most basic codelanguage.

And after a while you'll learn how to make your site better, the buty of CSS, maybe some Flash, or a more powerfull codelanguage ..and so on.. You'll notice. Just have fun, play around, try, read, learn
