Nicely done, well optimized responsive nav menu: Responsive Nav — Responsive Navigation Plugin Those who say "the perfect is the enemy of the good" often ignore the fact that crap is a worse enemy of the good.

More google tips on optimization. Google has a page speed service with which they magically restructure/optimize a page. This is a service you have to sign up for use google hosts and probably eventually pay for. But they describe what they do so you can copy the techniques yourself if you want. There's also google's test that estimates the performance increase they can provide, so you can have something to shoot for in your own optimizations. Quote:

tip: reduce line-height on narrower viewports because shorter lines require less vertical space for comfortable reading. Those who say "the perfect is the enemy of the good" often ignore the fact that crap is a worse enemy of the good.
