frame for header

I often make sites that have a header and navbar at the top which are the same on every page. it seems unneccessary for each page to have to reload the same image/links etc. is it better to put this into a frame?

cheers

I had to explain why not to use frames to the website development teacher at my school, he kept saying that they're great for templating, and don't look that bad.

It was a long argument.

I had to teach my class how to use html in high school.

Use PHP and includes to replace your frames solution.

Use php and requires to make sure your solution is done properly. Theres no point having a site running an include if it doesnt exist, might aswell break the whole site in my opinion.

set your expires headers properly and use caching to your advantage

frames are usually never a good idea, unless you're doing something like say...netvibes, where it makes sense to go that route

yeah, well I'm going to have to do just that too, I decided to take the Website development class that my school offers because I don't like any of the other options for Applied Arts (I'm NOT taking Automotive Repair). I was talking to the teacher, who is pretty cool, and learned that I'm going to be in a class of people who are in the class because it sounds easy, and will treat it like a blow off class. I told him this was unacceptable, and said I would start working on making the class have projects that teach people about development, and not using a WYSIWYG editor for everything.

anyways, I've got a month to a month and a half project submitted to him, along with a quick introduction to HTML that I wrote up based on the suggestions of people who were in last years class. So hopefully it'll be a good class.

Following that, for senior year, I volunteered to be his SILC (senior instructional learning corps) to teach the class.

Glad that you arent letting them just have it as a blow off class. Hopefully you'll have some interested people in the classes, and they will be enthusiastic.

Good luck!
