portfolio site
Hi. I have been working on a personal portfolio design to get me and my work online and would appreciate your views. Its not entirely finished, but I think it is at a stage now where feedback would be beneficial to me completing it. I don't think I can post links yet, so the address is positivedigitalmedia.co.uk Thanks, Mark. |

Got to start somewhere

I personally really like this, the weaker point being the navigation and how it is (though I cant explain why - while I'm sure someone else can) The contact page isn't quite right either. And (it's a work in progress so this might be on the 'to do' list) the recent projects images should be links (aswell as the view project link) in my opinion. It would also depend on the content (instead of lorum ipsum) as to how well this site would work in my opinion, and this would be interesting to see. Now other peoples opinions for criticism which is probably harsher than mine |

Thanks for the feedback. I agree with what you say about the contact page. It was the least thought out and as a result looks bland! I'd appreciate others feedback, so if you have got time to take a look and leave me some comments that would be great. Thanks again, Mark. |

It's a start, but here's my two cents (before push comes to shove, think of me as speaking constructively, not offensively). Color choice Quite an interesting green to choose. Regardless, you should kind-of rethink your options here. Putting gray text on a light green background, as well as white, is usually catastrophic. Maybe adding a 'just-barely' darker green border to the text will help with contrast a little more without taking away from what you're aiming to have. Navigation I don't know what it is, but the navigation just doesn't pop for me. To me, it's got a very out-dated feel to it. The curves for the corners are way too big. I can't exactly put my figure on it, but it's a mixture of something that just doesn't seem right. Padding and margins? Try playing around with some padding and margins. For instance, "What is positive digitalmedia?" can stay where it is, whereas the answer can start about 6px-10px closer to the middle. So long you don't get carried away with object placement, it can really make a difference for user-friendliness; otherwise, it's a little bland as-is. Be bold. Don't be afraid to have boxes, shadows, other little graphics, etc. Sometimes, simplicity is great, but if you are a designer, you should really want to show off your skills. |

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated. I will spend some more time focusing on the navigation, I only really used the icons because it was a bit different to the way I would usually approach the nav, but maybe keeping it simpler will be more effective ... Yeah, I have kept it simple but your right in what you say .. maybe I need to show off my skills some more. Thanks again! |
