Is it possible to defeat the back button
Ok, now we all know that the 'back' button is the most commonly used piece of interface bar none and this has been a major problem with flash. We also know that flash has now addressed a lot of usability issues and provided the means to insert anchors so that we can all build flash with a back button. All well and good. What I'm wondering is this: is there a way of defeating the back button function across browsers ( or in any specific browser) so that if you, say, call up a flash site that is not built with anchor functionality the back button is simply not highlighted - thus removing the temptation to use it and then inadvertently leave the site you're browsing. I realise this would be a hack but it might prove useful for site builders and users alike First thoughts are that it might be doable through some JS or CSS inserted in the holding page code but I can't find any technique for doing this. Any ideas? Don't get sand on your ice cream...

If you really want to do it, here's a hack... http://website.lineone.net/~jbonno/disableback.htm I guess with a flash site you'd have a link a flash page with the forward script in it. Doesn't disable the back but would stop ppl leaving by accident. p.s. I'm not saying to do it, I was just interested... |

Cheers Stickmus. To be honest it seems like more of a porn site trick, but I vaguely thought it might have some application. Don't worry...I won't be doing it - thought I'd have to send Rude Kid in for a minute though Don't get sand on your ice cream...
