Too many colors?

Howdy,

I'm working on my portfolio page and I'm wondering if there are too many colors on it. I want the eye to be at ease while viewing this, and it'll hopefully be a designer looking at it, so it really needs to be top-notch. That said, I'd like to know how y'all would change it.

Here it is: http://community.middlebury.edu/~aco...portfolios.php

Cheers.

don't mind the colours, there pastel shades, so they are easy on the eye and all set on a white background which makes it clean and easy to read.

I like the colours. Don't be afraid to use colour, too many designers are afraid of using colours.
But then again, there are many amateurs 'experimenting' with colours that look god awful.
So just use 'em wisely*.

maybe the top (~40px?) margin is alittle too much... some wasted space there...

agreed.

- try and get away from 'apple' style headers - its getting really boring
- a px or two on the underlines to distance the descenders
- put a picture on there. go on.

good work.

ps - i find it really funny that almost weekly you start a thread like this. do some fucking proper work!

also, and this goes to you too oli, 'view' is not a link.

i've just seen your code. you've got a table as a list element.

that's gnarly. back to school dood.

The table is a list element for hierarchal purposes. The way I've structured this is for things like the table and the other portfolio links to be on the same "level".

I know code.

As for the "proper work" thing, you're right, I should get a job that satisfies my desire to design, but hey, I'm just a CSS guy right now. I do no actual designing, so I'm left to the zen garden that is my portfolio site.

What do you mean by the "apple-style" headers? Do expand on that, please.

Thanks a bunch, y'all.

no. you have a list which has one element, and that's a table. i can't see anything right with that.

those grey gradient buttons that have been on apple's (as in mac) site for years that everyone seems to be creating these days. its like using the word 'easy' in orange - it's someone elses, don't go there.
