Whats the point...
Of putting up links to your Facebook, Bebo, Linkdn etc on your website?. Does it help to receive any paid work? Or is it good for linking etc? I'm confused? Seen alot of recent online portfolios and they all seem to have these links to social sites? Whats the point?... |

I only have a link to my LinkedIn page on my website as it's work related (current employer, work history, recommendations etc.). I wouldn't put my Facebook link on there though; I've got nothing to hide from it and if someone searches my name they can easily find me. I'd just rather keep my work and personal side separate (to a point). |

It's social media! You never know who is going to follow, or friend, you through any of these social outlets. I've been amazed how many meetings I've scheduled with people through sites like facebook, or twitter... and even more amazed at how much work I am receiving from those meetings. As for keeping your personal, and professional life's apart... I know some people who have multiple accounts. One for personal, and another for professional. I don't put anything up on social sites I wouldn't show a possible client. As a freelancer, they get 100% me. |

Anyways to get the thread back on track... I was thinking of making a Facebook, Twitter and anything else I can think of and through them in as links on my site. The only thing is though that I'll make my profiles on these things as and only have like work stuff in them kinda. You think thats possible? Last edited by moloyebu : 10-10-2008 at 22:37. |
