Er, right arrow quotation marks? Arrow quotes are favoured by German orthography instead of the comma quotes used in English. My free fonts www.utfi.net

They're the same shape as chevrons but I don't think that's what they're called when they act as quotation marks. The main thing, if you need to call the buggers anything, is that the person you're talking to (i.e. your printer) knows exactly what you're referring to. I've never heard "right angle quotes" before but the same goes for a lot of stuff coming out of NY these days. My free fonts www.utfi.net

The html abbr. you mentioned is short for right arrow quotes and you'll also see laquo if you look - guess what that's short for. I believe that is the correct name for them. My free fonts www.utfi.net

As pgo and weldo mentioned, the a in the acronym stands for angle, not arrow. At least according to the Unicode specs. The full name is "right-pointing double angle quotation mark". The orthographic name is right facing guillemet. |
