in what context? if it is on a website you probably need to set a charset? for example <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" /> in an application.. say fotoshoppy.. it could be the font causing the trouble. anti social marketing

Check the Copyright Symbols Webpage for use-specific methods. (edit: or maybe the font you're using is incomplete, charset-wise.) -

Because you're just pasting a copyright symbol or using alt+0169 instead of using the HTML entity Code:
