Rss?

I've been working with joomla a bit and like the way it deals with rss. I am working with another project where I won't be using joomla, how can I get rss (in this case NBA.com: News) to work this way. This may be a beaten up topic already and I searched for the info but still not getting it. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. As always, thanks for the consideration.

RSS is just an XML file schema - nothing more.

I would like the contents of that link to fit into a div. How is that done? Most of the information on the web explains how to create an RSS but not how to use another's in my site.

Thanks PGO.

P.S. I know what xml is but I don't know how it's used. I just need a good pushstart. Appreciate the feedback and the help. Sorry if it's too trivial.

Ah, well, to parse RSS/XML you need a programming language - like PHP. There are lots of RSS parsers written in PHP.

XML is used the same way as HTML - it's a markup language you can use to semantically describe content.

Where is the best place to find info on how to parse RSS/XML? Is what I am trying to do a major deal?

Not major at all. I've used Last RSS in the past.

Seconded. I've used Last RSS before and found it a breeze to use, although lately I've been using CodeIgniters' built in feed parsing...but for a standalone include you can't go wrong.

Strange. I used LastRSS and it seems to have worked but the links are not showing up, only the bullets for the links. The title comes up and the link works for it so I know the feed is working, just no links in the list. I created a temp folder (also made it writeable), what have I missed?
