enter the intraweb?
Well I have a client that has decided that aside from his regular website (hosted elsewhere) he wants to put a site up on the office intranet that clients can access to order parts and materials. This would be quite a large database but there is plenty of room on their existing host. Does it seem silly to do this on their own network? Has anyone done or dealt with anything like this? I think I will tell him it could more easily be done on the existing host but I want to see what you guys think. Are there advantages that I am not aware of that would be pros for the other side? Thanks for the advice Zygote Signatures they're a privilege not a right

Are the clients internal or external, if it's the former then using the intranet makes sense, if it's the latter then they would need to open up their internal network(s) to external visitors. |

I agree. Unless the clients are already hooked up to that intranet, then they can't access the database, unless that database is opened to, and in doing so, made part of, the internet. And if they are going to open their computers to the internet, well then they may as well just use the server they already have on the internet. This space for rent.
