List within a list

Is it bad to have a ul and separate list within another list, like a menu tree sort of thing ?

as long as your second list is a list associated with the first item in the initial list. otherwise, you'll be wanting the old dl, dt, dd.

hmm,

it goes like this :

Code:
- electronic media - people - persons name - persons name - persons name - persons name - work - services then on another page, like this : - electronic media - people - work - client name - client name - client name - client name - services
etc etc

Oli, don't know your constraints on what you're working on, but this one's a bit simpler, and IMO, cooler:

I saw the title of this thread and had to have a look! I was trying to crack a problem of lists within lists just recently. I was trying to achieve a numbered list with the decimal style.
My only problem was the document was a legal terms and conditions page.. so you had for example a number 2, followed by 2.1, 2.2 etc.

Apparently this is possible with CSS2 and a 'counter' function... but it all got far too complex, so I ended giving up, and coding the whole thing manually with indented paragraphs. Maybe one day CSS2 will be standard for all browsers? and cars that run on water, etc, etc
