Any demand/interest for higher end icon designs?

Hey guys,

Not sure if this is the perfect forum for this topic. . .hopefully it is.

Just wondering if their is any demand for higher end icon designs. By higher end I don't mean average free stuff but icon sets that someone would be willing to pay for.

I'm wondering if any of you know if such a demand exists. I know there are a ton of free icon sites that usually have lower quality and a few that offer higher end stuff (icon buffet, template monster).

I'm wondering if I should dip my hand in the icon market or to just stick to web design, logos, etc.

The icons would primarily be for a websites and so on and their would be a custom icon option where I could get hired to do a custom icon set for a specific site etc.

Is there a demand for this?

Also if you have any experience with having a graphics shop selling (templates, themes, etc), how has it worked out for you?

Yeah there's a demand, but probably not a big one since there's already so many icons saturating the market. Icon Buffet alone has enough.

And then there's the ever-popular FamFamFam icons - which are free.

Icon Sets | Ten by Twenty ™ has a nice set also.

If you're looking to sell them, iStock seems to have a lot of icon sets for sale. You could try there.

Interesting points.

This is the thing. . . I want to do it but I also want to see it grow and I don't want to waste time going down an avenue that isn't going to be fruitful.
