Portfolio

First post on this forum so hello to everyone.

Ok I am still currently learning to design websites, graphics etc but want to start putting a portfolio together-just for the experience of putting a functioning website up on the net.

Trouble Is I currently do not have any previous works or anything so I am wondering if this is still a good idea, who wants to view a portfolio that has no previous work?

What kind of things could I be putting up on the portfolio to flesh it out abit?

Also can anyone recommend a good book, online tutorial, magazine anything to start learning photoshop cs3 as I would like to be able to use this really well but I have no clue where to begin with this.

Thanks

You can create mockups to feature in your portfolio. Make a few well-designed templates with filler text.
