I know this is my first post and all so go easy here please. Beasically I need to get a website on the go to sell stock, preferably with co.uk. The website needs to be able to accept credit card transactions safely with simple checkout. Picture link to product, a little information on product below; and the future abality to have other and sub product categories. I'm sure you know what I'm getting at, e-bay sort of thing happening - pictures/links -> click -> info -> Buy. Nothing too flash. Perhaps a simple logo, expansion for forum. Could you give me an idea on price or rental fees? Development time? Any other suggestions? Thanks for the read. |

I would give Zencart: free, open source shopping cart software from Zen Cart a crack. I've never used it but its an open source shopping cart that should fulfil some of your needs |

I'm no expert but I couldn't get that software installed. Anyhow I beleive they use paypal as a means of transaction and I do not want any middle men. I require what I can only describe as a direct payment method to my bank account, and an information layout so people can enter their delivery address etc. thanks for the reply appreciated. |

No you don't. You will run into a mountain of legal data protection and security issues if you want to do your own card processing. There's a reason why everyone uses payment processing companies, such as Protx or Worldpay. They will also protect you from the massive amount of card fraud that goes on online. On the shopping cart front, Shopping Cart Software & Ecommerce Solutions: X-Cart. Free shopping cart trial available. is pretty good and widely used. |

It strikes me that your web knowledge is pretty poor. I really wouldn't recommend going into this on your own unless you are willing to dedicate some months to grasping the basics. Either hire a professional or set up an eBay store to sell stock. unconsolidated isoparms

Spot on Dusteh. In simple terms, a ".co.uk url" (known as a domain name) needs to be registered separately. You then need to set up something else (called DNS) to point the address to whatever server your site happens to be sitting on. It has nothing to do with what shopping software you decide to use. I think you need to look for a professional who can spend a couple of hours listening to what you want and advising you on the best way forward. |
