elastic layouts. opinions?
So, what do you guys think about elastic layouts (that is, ems-based that emulate the "zoom" features of Opera and IE7. Elastic Layout Example I understand the benefits of elegantly resizable text - that it maintains the same spatial relationships and dimensions across text sizes - but I can't shake the feeling that it's defeating the purpose by forcing people at lower resolutions to do the "horizontal scroll". That's why I've stayed away from it. |

So I guess not too many people have opinions about this, I'll bite. I like the idea of Elastic layouts, but I'm a arsehole designer who has to do pixel perfect designs... I guess I should stop and offer better support for people on mobile devices, hard of sight, etc. I'm also curious though of other peoples thoughts and if they have successfully used this method in their website designs... |
