semantics

Right, I get a lot of work because I market my skills as "Standards based development", and I do a lot of stuff converting to standards based layouts etc.

As such, my site needs to be accessible and usable etc. If you take a look, (link in bottom bar) the site uses a table to display a list of projects. Now I did this as a table because the data needs to always be tabular with headings et al or it wont make sense. I just got a bashing on a newsgroup because apparently this isn't right.

That goes against what I thought, and I obviously use CSS where need be because the whole site uses it.

Can I get some opinions? What consitutes tabular data if not that?

Nothing wrong with using a table there.

Stick's right.
Tables are the most appropriate method to use given that it's tabulated content.

The other bods are talking nonsense.
Tell them Stickman says it's ok. That should shut 'em up.

(I'm presuming they are barking 'lists!' at you.
The appearance could be mimicked with lists, but then the semantic association of that data group would be lost.)

btw, the featured project section is a little fubar in Safari.

You have to wait about 30 seconds. unfortunately for me it is in 1024x768, and the bottom part of the page isn't visible, so I can't see a problem.

same in IE6/Firefox on XP @ 1280x1024

btw, browsercam is pretty good too for checking cross-browser & cross-platform

and .. the original post topic, I agree tables are the right thing to use in that case.
