slices problem from Image Ready

Somewhat new to webdesign. So, I

- made my image layout in PS
- sliced in ImageReady
- imported into DW
- deleted spacer images in slices and set bg color instead
- got a really funky misaligned result

I guess the question is, how do you have the dimensions of a spacer image, but the bg color and edit options of html table space (add links, etc.)?

The problem with IMageReady is that its all images. So if you put content in a content area and you go over how hoigh thee area is, it will bugger up the template. Its easier to slice it yourself and then code it with CSS and xHTML.

Agreed with RaelRode. I have learned from this problem. I never slice in Image Ready unless its a portion that needs to be. Other than that I rely on Div's in CSS acting as tables

Hmmm... I would recommend using Fireworks. Best thing for slicing layout(personal opinion). Im not to sure but I know in fireworks you can set it to no spacers. Its all Adobe now...Image ready should be out the door.

The only real way to slice, (IMO) is to do it yourself. But, this is also where knowing how to design for the web comes into play. Knowing how the site will be laid out when you're designing, what can be simple css color, what are images, type of image, etc....
