Do the practice of using strict color code (like pantone discipline) still work with web?
My point is even monitor of same brand display colors slightly different from one to another set, why do we still bother about designing with "correct" colors? awaring that our pages will be viewed via all kinds of monitors x all kinds of brands x all kinds of configurations?

read a book. b'cos some colours are more correct than others. what might look orange on a screen displaying in millions of colours can look decidedly yellow on a 256 colour display. there is a reason. (well, used to be one anyway).

its a gamma thing isnt it?
i mean set both gammas on the OS's the same and they should look even more close.
as far as Adobe Gamma is concerned.
windows runs @ 2.20 while mac is claimed to run @ 1.8.

i use 1.8 myself, due to having a horrid monitor, its bright feature takes it from black to - 'did i get any brighter?'. <3 for adobe gamma ;o!

no need to get personal, stickman. It was a reasonable enough question.
