Pardon?

Anyway, colours are very important in web design. A colour can make or break the whole look of a website and colours are known to have effects on a user's mood and opinions. Did you know, the colour red has been shown to increase blood pressure and heart rate?

That is why many people dedicate all their time to creating colour schemes and studying colour theories.

He's very right. Sometimes only three colours are a full design.

Use of colour is paramount

Colours are essential for branding, for contrasting of important areas and for readability.

Colours provide the mood which can make a positive or negative emotive experience for the user who visits the site and therefore is a form of emotional branding, if they feel uncomfortable with the colour it creates a psychological barrier to them trusting your site and buying/subscribing to your product. In business, this is vital.

Red can be OK if darkened, like a dark burgundy as is used in restaurants or food sites which stimulates increase in appetite therefore creates more sales.

Colours are a psychological trigger to making or breaking the trust with the user.

I'm fascinated by colour, hence my company name, and I aim to always get a balance and harmony on all my designs using effective techniques.

Pick out one colour then use one complementary colour and also one shade of the original colour set at around 75% opacity and maybe one of around 40% , that's my formula.

Hope this helps,
Ollie

Beyond what has already been stated. Understanding the use of color is HUGE for people who are color blind. Contrast between color is just as important as color itself.
