GIF white borders

Hi,

Does anyone know a good way of getting rid of white outline borders on GIFs, check out the screenshot. I dont want to use a PNG as I get a white background on the image in IE6

It looks like you created the shape on a pale background so the edges have picked up some of the anti-aliasing.

Just use a PNG, then implement an IE-type solution to force it to render the embedded alpha-channel:
- A List Apart: Articles: Cross-Browser Variable Opacity with PNG: A Real Solution
- PNG in Windows IE
- satzansatz -- PNG alpha transparency: AlphaImageLoader filter flaws in IE6
etc.

ouch that's just plain wrong. agree with the grenade - use a PNG. that's the only format that could handle this job if you want that panel to sit on top. you've already found that old versions of *spit* IE can't handle PNGs so you got t use the hack

Yup PNG it - the hacks for IE aren't that hard to implement.

If you were trying to get rid of the white border though, I'd try going in and first playing with the Transparency Dithering for GIF's and then manually trying to specify pixels as colour or no colour (i.e. not using levels of opacity).

Honestly, I think transparency dithering would be a hiding to nothing in this case.

hi

there is a option for matte color while saving the file in gif format.

change the matte color to the color in your back ground. presently i think it is white
