Web design essay question

Right,

I'm obviously researching myself - books - web etc.

But I thought i'd post anyways incase you lot know of some websites with some nice article/reads that I don't come across.

I have to 'Examine the visual changes that have taken place in the last 5-10 years'.

So basically I think i'm going to be comparing work from 10 years ago to modern day. Using some top agency work to the not so top agency work. Also want to blabber on about this whole 'Web 2.0' shizzle, but get the whole 'real' point across without following in other people's footsteps.

So if anybody can put up a nice link or two which could help me in this research stage that would be great.

Cheers

EDIT: I'm looking mainly for books? I've got to reference them all and apparently they aren't to happy about web references :|

so ... you're discussing the way the visual aspect of the web has changed in the last 5 years, but they don't want you to use the web for references ??

idiots.

indeed. I've got a whole bunch of stuff for the web,
One example which is stated within the question, which isn't web based: Amazon.co.uk: Convergence Design: Books: Steve Curran

Thats retarded, I did a project on the web last Christmas, I had only 4 books for reference and three pages of web links. This was MA level and I got a good mark for it - what the hell are your tutors thinking?

2003 isnt a bad year for a book publication... you will find most are from the turn of the century. I did

oh yeah, this one might be helpful:

Amazon.co.uk: MTIV Process Inspiration and Practice for the New Media Designer: Books: Hillman Curtis

General design principles, you might find something in it thats quotable, how web design has grown up, references films... blah blah blah - its worth reading anyway.

I'm not sure of any books... but you can use the Way Back Machine at http[colon]//web.archive.org/, provided by archive.org to see the trends of websites from like 10 years ago..

It is really interesting looking at big websites like Microsoft and Yahoo from way back.
