Help please regarding my website.

Hello! I'm looking for some advice please. I've never had a website before, and someone recommended to me is creating mine. It's taken a long time (I hired him in January!) to get it done and he doesn't listen to what I want. But never mind, I've paid him half and half when it's complete so no point in complaining. However, I wouldn't want to use him again in the future if I'd like something altered. He is very difficult to get ahold of. So when he finally finished my website, is there anything I need to know if I'd like to hire someone else to do alterations please?

Does he need to give me passwords, or who he is using for the webspace etc.

I'd really appreciate some advice, thank you so much.

Best wishes xx

Depends on how you're site is setup. But he should give you passwords ect. If he uses a simple CMS, maybe you could update you website youself and you don't even have to hire someone else.

If he used the cPanel method it should be considerably easy to update the site yourself, otherwise I can do it for you.
You can get in contact with me by emailing:

infotechweb@gmail.com

I have used cPanel and i do update alot of sites

Hi, thanks for the replies. I emailed him yesterday, he seems to have done a little work on it. I'm waiting for his answers, then hopefully I will be able to change things myself or at least contact someone else to help me with it. I'll post again when he tells me how he has made it (hopefully!) Got everything crossed

Eta I have an url but it is embarrassing it looks awful! Also, he has put it in google he wasn't meant to do that yet, which means others have found it *cringes!* no matter it will get sorted

You need to know:

1)Your FTP username and Password
2) The company Hosting your website and your hosting username and Password
3) The company who registered your domain name and your domain username and password.

ALSO-

If you don't want him working for you again, change your password on receipt of final product. It has happened that some websites have been 'hacked mysteriously' after a fallout between client and designer. I'm not saying it will, but just to be safe.

In my experience (without wishing to be rude) It usually takes two to tango.

for the attention of web design clients please check out this article and it may help you in your relationships with designers.
