Joomla - the CMS answer?

So this is my constant battle - Joomla (and the like).

Out of all the sites I've tried to install a type of open-source CMS system (Joomla, Mambo, Drupal, etc.), I've never been able to get it to do exactly what I'd envisioned for the CMS. Most of the time I resorted to uninstalling the CMS system and hiring a programmer to create a custom CMS. Now, with bringing a programmer on as a partner in our firm I'll be working with custom CMS for all new client web projects.

My question than, has ANYONE ever really gotten an open-source CMS to work how they want it to work with their project? I don't mean just work, but I mean actually do what you wanted it to do in the first place?

Performing a little search on the forum would answer that question a thousand times.

The only system I think I have really seen completely bent to someone's will is EZ Publish... but then that is as much of a framework as a CMS... so yeah.

WordPress is pretty good, but unless you want to do alot of customizing php, it's not real great/complete CMS solution. Still love it though.
