Web Design Courses

Hi I'm considering doing a web design course. There's two options for me
Distance Learning Course or College evening classes. The college courses are approx 15 weeks, Distance Learning is at your own pace but normally 1 year. Just want to know which web design course route people think I should take. The distance learning one does cost more but I wonder if it's more in depth. Has anyone tried one and would recommend it?

ditto.

most of the people on my course dropped out... the course was set up in a way that almost encouraged not finishing it.

Get a book and join some forums... dont waste your money on a course

Ok... what books do you suggest?

Any other opinions on distance learning courses or college evening courses?

For almost anything web based, I think and most will say "read a book". If you are to take a course take a design course for some color theory or something. The html/php/css stuff can be self thought fairly easily.

I'm ok with the design part... it's the building bit I want to learn. It's that bad that I'm having to embed all my type for my own current website. I'm really a print designer looking to freelance and I would like to take on web design work which is why I'm having to learn. If I need to self learn I would like tutorial style books.

Mandy,

Get onto http://www.w3schools.com/css/ and go through that tutorial and then the rest, just learn it. It's not that difficult to be honest. It might be worth you picking up a CSS book for reference.
