navigation help please

I have several different photo galleries grouped by subject, Antarctic, Penguins, Autumn, etc...
In each of the different gallery pages I want to create a navigation system that when a person mouses over a "number" a small window appears above that number displaying a thumbnail image and text stating for example "Arctic Gallery". Then when the person clicks on the "number", or whatever symbol I decide to use, they are linked to that Gallery.

Here is a link to one of the gallery pages. Sorry, not enough postings for the full URL

westlight.net/galleries/autumn/autumn

Space is limited and I do not want to add text links because there are 15 different galleries and I think just linking by "text" would get too busy. Just a simple row of numbers near where the "back" button is located is what I had in mind.

Thanks from a newbie.

Sorry I misread your post about which page you were talking about.

However, my recommendations still stand for the page where you choose which gallery you want to make some kind of uniformity.

A suggestion:
You could crop the image links in your directory gallery so that they're all the same
size. Because right now it's a bit messy. I kinda see what you were going for, but
because of centering problems it took a long look to understand. I would keep the padding
distance you have between the images though, and maybe add a 1px (inside
stroke) white boarder for the image links also.

On another note:
I still don't like the navigation bar at the top it is incredibly hard to read.
Because it's a thin black font on the darkspot of a gradient. And I don't think the reflecting gradient will work for the size navigation you have especially from the initial colors you used.

Nice photos though.

first off, what great shots. i love outdoor photography. nice dog too. i have a lab/collie mix.

now. i think the navigation on the site is a bit singular in its type of application. there is one way to view it and it is based heavily on the viewing of thumbnails. i am not sure there is not a way to do it and use a lot less space. i have an idea, if your interested.
