Flash: How'd they do that?

I have just started updating my site and I purchased a Flash template for the home page. Thinking of adding some Flash elements to one other page. One effect that I'm interested in trying is what looks like a flash...as in photography, going off behind the photograph as you click on it. Here is a link to my homepage and you'll see that when you click on one of the small thumbnails at the bottom of the page it flashes and so does the larger view when it loads. Here's the site. westlight.net (What's up with not being able to post url's?)

I have Flash 8 and am starting out so simple instructions would be great. I've searched through the templates many layers and have yet to find the code/action in the .fla file for this feature.

Also:
I've had comments/critiques from others on the navigation needing improvement. Not sure what exactly they're referring to, if it's the look of the buttons or what. Any input?

that's a timeline animation triggered by a rollover function, it's pretty basic stuff - use the flash tutorials regarding movieclips and buttons as a primer (there is no built in camera flash style transition, you will have to learn to animate a version for yourself)
