Working Around a Client's Logo

The last few weeks I've been dealing with a client and I despise their logo.
So I've been trying to figure out how to make a well designed site with a crappy logo.

Anyway, I wondered if anyone else ever encounters this problem. And what did you do?

Working on one now.
I'd planned on combining shit hot design skillzzz with some carefully chosen photography to help take the eye away from the logo.

Now they want it animated. Sigh.

Make small subtle changes to fit in with your design, remove bad colours/effects, do your best to simplify it. Also try making it as small as possible

They wanted me to do an animation too. But I think I've saved the world from that.

Also, thanks for the advice stickmus.

Make a kickass design, with a kickass logo.
paste their logo in this design.
show them the two options, ask if they don't think it's time for a change.
(obviously, you show your designs printed on paper and you don't let them keep it, as it's a job you haven't been paid for, yet.)

If they don't think it's time for a change, do what they want, takre your money and move your way.

Good idea, slightly risky though. It often turns out that clients with really shit logos have designed them themselves, and take it personally when you criticise it.

I had a brilliant logo to work from once. It was actually an MS Paint job, I kid you not. it contained a square, circle and triangle in neon green, bright red and royal blue. I thought it was a joke at first, someone winding me up.

Yeah, i have a client at the minute with a shit logo. Colours were terrible. primary yellow and blue...so, i redid the logo from scratch toned the colours down a bit, gradient here and there. did the job. Looks quite well now.
