Hi all...I am in desperate need of someones guidance. I have put together my first web site for my small business. if you use mozzila or netscape, there is something not right with the lining up of some of the bits and pieces. In I.E. it looks fine. I put the site together in PagePlus 6.0 but I cant find anyway of changing the wrong bits to look right in mozzila and netscape without screwing up the I.E. view. Please, what do i do??? Can't post url for you to see what i mean cause this is my first post Hope someone can suggest a solution. I cant afford to pay a web designer. |

Hay guys...I assume that Steveb and Dusteh dont like my site!! Ok that cool...but please, please rather than those silly comments tell me what is wrong with it. (what browser are you looking at it in...does make a difference as detailed in first post) This is the first time I have attempted any kind of web design and I do appreciate your experienced comments. But, please make them constructive otherwise I will not learn from them. Thanks |

Ok, why don't I like it... everything about it screams amateur. Ok so you can't afford a designer, but why bother with the horrific background and the animated gif? Why not just go for simple blocks of colour, and clean readable text. unconsolidated isoparms

I'm sorry but I really don't know what to tell you. You're quite right, we should make our comments constructive as well as poking fun. Apart from the textured background and the typography, I dislike the animated gif most. Have a read of some of these sites' advice pages. I wish you well - we were all beginners once. http://www.grantasticdesigns.com/5rules.html http://webstyleguide.com/ http://www.how-to-build-websites.com/ |

Thanks a lot guys...now I know what to do to improve it. If I can!! Sorry if my comment seemed harsh but we are all very good at telling ppl they are crap at something but few of us are good enough to tell others what they need to do to improve. I appreciate your comments and will try to work with them. Thank you very much...all of you. |

Keep it clean and simple and it will age well. Take www.simplebits.com as a random example. its the subtle things that make all the difference, like the choice of font. unconsolidated isoparms

dont shrink the title image using script, do it using something like fireworks, that way you dont get the pixelation. remove the 30 mph signs they look tacky why are the links not actually the text, but the space about and below the text? |

Designers are strange :)

OK so its the kind of website that looks like its made with Publisher. The background is in Publisher and the images look like they are from clipart or something. Its really amateurish and if you are getting paid for this then its overpayment. |
