News Section on freelancer website?
I am a freelancer, i have a website. I want to know your opinions on having a "News" section that features latest contracts I have got, recent jobs, what I am doing and recent client feedback? Maybe it sounds like a good idea but is it telling a little bit too much? Opinions and views please! |

Making a blog I think would detract from the professionalism that i am trying to portray, not a bad idea could work for some, i dont think me. |

Sounds kind of snooty for a freelancer to be above a blog really Lots of professional agencies have blogs now (not that you have to follow suite), it can show you're human (never been a believer in selling yourself as superhuman, or in managers treating you like robots), and just because you have a blog you can still choose to post only professionally on that blog, its a medium, it doesn't dictate what you act like. |

True i suppose but when somebody says blog to me it reminds me of a 13yr old school girl writing her online diary. As blogs started it was very much a youthful thing to do. Maybe it's just me but if theres one there is enough. |

a client / freelancer relationship is just as human as any other, and you have to be able to get along with your clients just as they have to get along with you. Besides the fact that so much personality goes into design in general, it wouldn't hurt to show a little in a blog type area. |

Well again it depends how you treat it, and not meaning to pimp myself out, but if you take my own blog (scrapbook link in signature) isn't exactly a blog, I try post every other week or so some new illustration or doodle, and do it that way, i resist treating it like a diary and that works for me so far. A blog is just a bit of online software which adds a date to what you post at the end of the day, simple and to the point and very effortless to add to. But if its not for you than fair enough, there's no demand to have a blog but just don't snub it for the wrong reasons edit - grr can't not mention it, our avatars are creepy :P |
