Define structure, design sitemap, information architecture, navigation, flowcharts.

Get content together.

Design on pen/paper and eventually Photoshop.

Start translating Photoshop design into templates in XHTML/CSS.

Make website.

This is, of course, not set in stone and is dependent on any number of factors.

Learn XHTML and use your brain as the translation tool, you get alot more control over things by learning the code as opposed to using editors such as dreamweaver or frontpage.

ok guys, just don't jump to execution right away. how about (helping) to define any business/marketing targets first?. After that, define a website concept idea. Then define a structure, ... functional design, sketch/design, etc. When you start designing right away (without a good briefing intake), you loose valuable time and face unneccessary design/technical revisions. Good luck all. Cheers. M.

I always start on paper. Lots of paper and a clipboard or my Moleskin when I'm out. Use really cheap 70gsm or layout pads so you can doodle and waste w/o feelign guilty.
