You're not kidding. It's often very tempting to whack a table in there to create certain form layouts but I try and build them first using straight CSS as they are cleaner and more accessible. Forms are arguably the most important page(s) to get right from an accessibility angle as this is the 'moment of truth' page in many respects where a customer is trying to contact, enquire, book, order, track, search, etc... and you need to get it right for everyone.

You could style the input areas and buttons using CSS:

.input{
background: url("your background image") #color;
border: "your border";
}

You can also style textareas and other form elements similarly.
