Freelance Web design

I have been doing website design for a few years now and I am currently working on alot of e107 CMS Themes... I have searched this site and read quite a few threads about Freelance Web designing... I am looking for a full time job but I want something to fill in the gap while I am searching.

Anyway my question is what do you need to do to become a freelance web designer?

Like registering as self employed etc? I am in the UK and i'm unsure on how I go about this.

I know you need to create a portfolio... etc...

Sorry if the question is dumb, and I hope I worded it right... its late and well i'm tired.

Thanks in advance.

Andy

Don't worry mate, so am I.

I'm wondering about the whole freelancer thing, how can I get it. I see a bunch of words from other people, but don't understand how to become one, I guess the real judger is yourself, you decide what you are and what you want. So I guess I'm a 12 year old webmaster or web developer or web designer, just working my ass off over this site at supportunion.com, anyways
can anyone else show us how to become one?

Have you read this thread yet?

What does a 'freelancer' need to stay legal?

I am also currently debating registering as self employed as i only intend to be 'freelance' til january, to fill a gap before the next fulltime job. This is probably a bad idea though. Good luck with it all...

I'd still be depressed, but the thousands of pounds i'd receive a week might help to dull the pain

Well, gee what's hard about my work.

Why won't you change to something more higher and better then me, oh I know something I haven't mastered it's using macromedia flash 8.0, after two months of training I sucked still. So there's many things I don't know, you can understand.

Right now I'm trying to learn .php, almost done already installed a few scripts. I'm learning some more and more things everyday, don't know just sick and tired here. Gotta go to school in one more hour, shit okay bye guys. Give me good luck on the tests, .

Also d*d you kinda rock, in my opinion. Your avatar is what I couldn't haven't done, and you said your job as a freelance designer, sweet. That's what I always wanted to become, maybe soon.

Is it possible for me?

Since I'm 12, can I get a job as a freelancer?

I would like to get paid from my clients by money orders sent by mail, or checks.

You guys trying to become my parents? Okay look I don't like my boring childhood plus I'm almost done, ha ha. Almost 13, weepy makes me a teen, second able my clients will be real people on the net. Come on, you think I'm letting my neighborhood check out and buy my $200 $300, services? I don't think so, they're all poor.

And please, please stop acting out like a parent or something to me .

Yeah right, if you were my dad you wouldn't be on the computer, because right now you're supposed to be at work which you are, and if you aren't working.

Amazing what you can find in the css file isn't it I'm pretty sure your not Viktor Persson...

I would say you are a webmaster, as all you do is add content etc... and the odd script

And you say at the bottom of your site "Template design by Phantom.Effect"

When its pretty obvious you didn't make it. Link...

Anyway back on topic... anyone have any more suggestions on starting to be a freelance web designer?
