Flash CMS works well with search engines? :)
"This is an exciting full Flash Content Management System which closes the gap between HTML and Flash based sites by making it possible, for the first time ever, to have all your Flash content indexed by search engines." http://www.fcmspro.com/ |

Interesting. Shame its not opensource, I can't see myself being allowed to buy this to test it. I do honestly think this kind of thing (Flash & XML) will eventually grow to rival XHTML, as the W3C standards are grinding to a halt in terms of innovation. |

Eh? Why would you wanna buy a basic php script that spits out data from a db? The actual CMS shouldn't be built in Flash too, utter waste of time, and a twat to use no doubt. The flash bit just reads in variables from the url, and decides what page to pick. Nothing overly complicated about any of this at all, and nothing new, you could do it yourself quite easily. I'm all for using flash elements on a site to tart it up a bit, or for having a full flash site to present a product (like that blackberry pearl) but this is just taking things in the wrong direction. "I know, lets all run towards proprietary software where all the webs problems began". Tbh they could of at least made an effort with their HTML version of the website, it looks pathetically shite. |

Without proprietary software there is no evolution. Or do you expect W3C to invent new ideas themselves? because it doesn't appear to be happening at an acceptable rate. If left to the W3C the internet will still be static text hyperlinks on a 2D plane by the year 2100, with a whopping choice of <ul> or <ol>. I bet you like AJAX? which happens to be built on Microsofts proprietary XMLHTTPRequest. Flash is the only viable alternative to XHTML and CSS at the moment, and we all have seen the seriously cool things that can be done with it. This CMS is just another small step towards a useable framework for people like me. Do it myself? I have no idea how to incorporate resizable and positionable images into a WYSIWYG editor inside Flash - nor have I got the time to sit down and code it from scratch. I'm you know... doing work to get money n' stuff. |

Random stab in the dark you made there. I like Ajax, but I haven't built any sites with it yet. You make some valid points, but what I was trying to get as was, what the fucks the point in doing a full site in flash? I have only seen a handful of sites where the full use of flash has been a wise decision, but generally, sites like this are a load of crap, made by people unable to learn XHTML/CSS and a Server side Language |

No there are bad sites in both flash and xhtml, in fact a person able to make a good full flash site would need strong programming skillsand would generally know XHTML/CSS only to well, there are valid reasons for not making full flash sites - but a facility to spider content makes one less reason not too, which i think was Buzz's original point |

I know what you mean about achieving the same effect with CSS - however I think you have a shortsighted opinion of what Flash could offer in the future... I mean just look at the brio site www.brio.net - that is a very good use of flash, and combined with SEO technology the future is more than gif-animations. |
