IBM sues Amazon for patent infringement.

Unbelievable that IBM actually holds (and is enforcing) these patents.

Quote:
* US 5,796,967 - Presenting Applications in an Interactive Service.
* US 5,442,771 - Storing Data in an Interactive Network.
* US 7,072,849 - Presenting Advertising in an Interactive Service.
* US 5,446,891 - Adjusting Hypertext Links with Weighted User Goals and Activities.
* US 5,319,542 - Ordering Items Using an Electronic Catalogue.

Could they be any broader? Will be rooting for Amazon in this one (even though their one-click patent is just as ridiculous) - even though they're US patents, would be good to see them being voided.

Looks like most of us will be next on their list if those are the "patents"

I think they are a good idea for protecting peoples inventions, but they can fuck off if they want to sue anyone who uses a database or has an ecommerce site.

I think they should patent breathing next.
