i have a mess of problems and i seem to run into these same ones often, so i figured i'd ask for somehelp. if you goto the site i'm working on... www.downhomeroots.com/3riv/

in MAC firefox the div scales to size correctly, but the text flows out of the div.
and in PC IE...the div scales to the text thats in it and not the width that i chose. but the text stays in teh div. i have a feeling that the problems are connected. can anyone help me out with this. and offer some advice so i dont run into this problem anymore. i think it has to do with my usages of floats?

i'd really appreciate it!
