A portfolio is undoubtedly one of the most important qualities, but in some cases:

Good portfolio + degree

might be preferable to:

Good portfolio + no degree

Yeah that's obvious.. but I think the point is more whether a degree is worth 'so much' extra - to warrant signing up to a 4 year course... which i'm just not sure it is... I think time could be better spent.

I guess that depends on what profession you're in and what the degree is.

I certainly didn't choose to do a degree purely for what the course would teach me, it was also about the experience (moving away, new people & experienecs etc.).

I feel let down by the degree in terms of the content and what was/wasn't taught.
However I did spend 3 years learning a lot because of the people I met on the course who were motivated to learn and share knowledge regarding design and software. I wouldn't have learnt everything that I did in those three years if I hadn't joined the course.

i dont hide the fact I cant spell, I am cross lateral. I couldnt give a flying monkey that I cant spell, thats why I was wise enough at school to concentrate on what I am good at drawing and design. and as far as capital letters go at the beginning of each sentences, I be sure to make a note in my give a fuck not pad...
