Anybody worked on Word Press??? HELP!!

We've just started to work on with this program called Word Press. There are some difficulties we're having here and would like to ask someone who has worked on it before.

Try outlining the problem you have, if soemone can help they will. Wordpress is PHP and mySQL based. Fairly easy to work with if you have a fair understanding of both.

Wordpress has its own support forum which is very active and helpful at www.wordpress.org.

The problem

We have created a blog in Word Press and have provided it with a header image.
The problem: The header image is appearing behind a coloured patch. The coloured patch is supposed to appear behind and only if you don't provide an image for the header. We have tried so many techniques but are not succeeding in any way.
We neither know PHP nor Msql. We are plain designers.
We just want to get rid of this patch.

Sounds like a CSS template problem rather than Wordpress.

A link would help then we can see the problem.

I downloaded the image, the black blob is drawn over the top of header-top.jpg. Have a look at the image.

There is nothing in the image :-(
I don't know what is happening! If you look at the image we're uploading, there's nothing there! Only when it's up does this stupid balck patch appear and in the wordpress 'Header Image and Text' section, we can even change the black to any other colour!

Here is the image attached.

Try deleting the original and uploading again.

Are you sure the one you are uploading is jpg did you replace with gif but not amend the code?

It is definately in the image. Perhaps the code is looking at a version at a different address.

Hey datahound, thanks so much for the effort to help us. The image we're uploading is perfect. I don't know what Wordpress is doing to it. Trying to solve the problem...

The black block is a header generated dynamically by php wizardry, so its not in the image when you upload it. I think thats what's confusing you.

If you read through the tutorials, help docs, forums etc on the wordpress site, it'll be pretty easy to figure out.

If you delete it on the server side is it still visible?

This would indicate that you are uploading it to the wrong place, check other folders on the server side for another version then upload the correct version over the top.

Wordpress does not have the power to alter images.

I think you're right, Mr.Stickman. We've asked our PHP guy to take a look at it. Meanwhile I'm trying to go through the link that you've sent us.
