ie 6 pc. why does it not

in html - <div id="rightcontent"></div>

in css - #rightcontent {
position: absolute;
right: 0px;
top: 0px;
width:20%;
height: 100%;
background-image: url(../images/bkg_square.gif);
border:0;
}

why does the div not go the total height of the page - it works in netscrape & mozzilla but not ie 6.

I haven't got ie6 installed, but:

Doctype is transitional - try changing it to strict. This forces ie6 into microsoft's "compliant mode". Load of arse, but it should then show 100% height.

hmm, got that now. if i get rid of the doctype altogether then it works - can't get it to work whilst a doctype is defined. bugger me on a friday afternoon. gotta get this working for tuesday morning too...

and put the strict doctype back.

Why have the left and right divs btw? All they contain is the background image so why not just centre the middle div and have the background image declared in the body. Or am I missing something?

ive noticed that mostof the display problems that show up in safari are in mozilla(chimera/netscape) and visa versa.
