Content Management?

Ok I am pretty much a newbie, I have been looking for information on how to design program a site so that people with no programming experience can update it. I would prefer to not use a database to accomplish it, but if that is the only way so be it.

Can anyone recommend any sources of information on this topic?

Much appreciated....
Clay

I used this one www.cutephp.com on some sites. It's pretty straightforward

yeh, i'm using CuteNews on my project at the moment, works well, easy to install. You have to set up a database first on your server (depending on the control panel your host sues, search google for "Creating a Database in CPanel/Plesk/Whatever"). Then follow the readme for how to install CuteNews on your server.

Really? I remember it storing data in a .txt file. So no need for a database. Maybe they changed it

No need for a database.

Hahaha, what went wrong with wordpress? I never used it, but I'm just curious. I was thinking of trying to set wordpress and textpattern myself. Just so I can get accustomed with them, in case someone would want something like that

I got it sorted fine after a while, but it was my first ever attempt with any sort of database installation, so i got a bit flustered. Looking back, it's quite easy and there are loads of tutorials if you get stuck, though i doubt you will.

I use Mambo (http://www.mamboserver.com) extensively - but it does require a db.

always worth learning how to make your own, you cant beat a customised solution

id much rather build one from scratch than mess around trying to fit mambo or something into the wrong place

depends on the budget obviously
