Me! Twitter / subcircle I find it useful for staying up to date with the snippets of tech info. Good for finding out what people are working on and getting a quick and mostly helpful answer to a question (unlike posting to DT Most of it is shite and banter though. |

I'm an active twitter user but i used to be a massive skeptic. It's so pointless!. I don't get it! Why do people need to know what i'm doing?!?!? blah blah blah. It does have quite a high learning curve and it's easy to "give up on" when you've just registered and are not really sure what's going on. If you're following the right people on twitter it can become an immensely useful tool. News usually breaks on twitter before it gets on the popular industry news blogs. It's also a great way of networking with people, i've connected with loads of designers and developers though twitter. There is also a great video on youtube explaining everything everything "in plain english". If you're still on the fence and haven't signed up for an account yet i'd highly recommend it. |

I feel the same way as most, it seems kind of pointless, but I can also see how if you are following the right people, you will hear of things first. Although I still feel like a fool every time I go on there, heh. I think the interface needs an overhaul too. The AJAX hardly refreshes often enough. Like once every couple of minutes. |

Well i registered and viewed it, but its like Blogging in the beginning, Why the Duck? Now there are some cases where there was a tornade or something like it taking place and within 1 minut there was a group on the other side on the planet knowing about it. But like Email, most of it is spam and mess, but there are some great pieces besides it. |

It's another 2.Yawn fad, or an enhanced version of myspaces "is ...." feature. To be fair, its kind of like the old shoutbox craze that rocked us all many years ago, no more logging onto mirc or waiting for the bulletin board to load. Users chatting to you in 5second refresh and having it saved for eternity whoop whoop!! Twitter, more like tw@er |

I was the biggest critic for such a long time (the only people who seemed to enjoy it were the A-list bloggers and podcasters, with thousands of friends) - but I gave it another shot and it's started to grow on me. Since I installed Twitterific I've started to look at my feedreader about once a day, just because I get such a tailored feed from Twitter. You can find me at Twitter / samuelcotterall |

I simply use mine to send text-messages to my mates (they have also registered and simply switched the device-update option to ON). Now I can send them private messages and they'll be sent to their mobile phones Simple, quick and especially... Free |

I use it a LOT more since I installed TwitterFox as it's just "there" all the time. My primary use of it is for status updates from my servers and to let me know when something happens on a website ... "@woodss A booking has been made on %website% - check the order system" or "@woodss There was a failure on doUpdate.asp, line 59 - database connection refused" or something like that. You have to learn how to hook your code into the Twitter API though, but it IS totally useful once you give it a chance. I think everyone i've known has said "whats the point" and now they use it as if they always have; I know I was a doubter at first too. Seriously though, TwitterFox makes it useful. Steve Woods
