Hi All,

I am studying Expression Engine and working on a local weblog on my Mac. In order to have the template files that EE uses written as files, which I can then edit using Textmate, I read I need to create a folder and set its permissions to 777, which I think it means read, write, execute.
I don't know how to do this via the terminal (I need to navigate to the users/myusername folder and don't know how to do it in Terminal), any tips on how to set these permissions? I already gave this folder read/write priviledges and assigned it to the www group, as all the EE files in my Sites folder.

Right, I noticed that whenever I open the terminal I am already in my User folder, so I managed to get to the Sites folder. I am now looing for tutorials on how to set permissions from the Terminal, for it seems like the reade&write permission applied with the Finder does not work.

It's wrong that they tell you to set them as 777, no need for that at all.

All you really need to do is give all users read access, and you can do that via the finder information window (option click -> info). There's a section for permissions in there.

It was a problem with wrong path. I checked it with the php info tool and sorted it out.
