Ha! That's the first Chinese grub I ever had. But at least I got the "real" thing - I was with friends in Soho.

yes we are sad as a nation!!

I had sweet and sour fish in shenzhen. Amazing!! the fish came whole and was cut so when it was cooked the flesh curled and looked like a pineapple.

There's a Chinese place in Järvenpää who do a similar trick with deep-fried prawns. They coat them in batter and when you bit into them after cooking, you discover that the prawn has been turned completely invisible.
